‘WILDE PEOPLE!’ TO BE
STAGED IN MARCH 2010
New play about the works of infamous Oscar
Wilde
will debut at Indio Performing Arts Center
INDIO, CA. August 20, 2009: He called himself “an apostle of
the beautiful”.
Oscar Wilde’s world consisted of only the privileged, the
elegant, the perfectly-dressed, and the witty. Known for his
clever repartee, bon mots, and brilliant verbal ripostes,
Wilde’s life was as famous as his unforgettable writing.
“WILDE PEOPLE!” celebrates him and his work in a brand-new
play scheduled to open at the Indio Performing Arts Center
on Friday, March 5, 2010. It will run Friday and Saturday
evenings at 7:30 PM, with Sunday matinees at 3 PM, for three
weeks. WILDE PEOPLE! is an original work by Valerie-Jean (VJ)
Hume. The cast includes such well-known performers as Alden
West, John Alex Houlton, Debbie Apple, Kaitlyn Farley, Erik
Pimentel, Jr., Dean Apple, Rachel Perdue, and David
Clinton-Reid. Live music will be performed by Ted Pethes.
“It’s a family play--in many ways!” smiles Hume. The play
takes the form of a revue, with a high style specially
suited to Oscar Wilde’s comedy.
“We have stolen the very best of Oscar Wilde,” explains
Hume, “which fortunately is now in the public domain. When I
originally wrote WILDE PEOPLE! it was not.” Oscar Wilde
passed away in 1900. The producer of the play is the Indio
Performing Arts Center. Located at the corner of Fargo
Street and Indio Blvd., “IPAC” is celebrating its third year
of productions at 45-175 Fargo. Tickets are available
through IPAC at (760) 775-6212.
